ART STUDIO  |  NEOPLASTICISM  &  DE STIJL
       LINEAR PERFECTION FOR LIMITLESS PEOPLE

A Neoplasticist art studio dedicated to exploring abstract forms, color & themes

from the De Stijl perspective where the continuum of pictorial linear

forms extends beyond the physical limits of each work of art.

LAWS OF PROPORTION

"Vertical and horizontal lines are the expression of two opposing forces; they exist everywhere and dominate everything; their reciprocal action constitutes ‘life’. I recognized that the equilibrium of any particular aspect of nature rests on the equivalence of its opposites."

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944)

NEOPLASTICISM

De Stijl, Dutch for "The Style", also known as Neoplasticism, was a Dutch art movement founded in 1917 in Leiden.

De Stijl consisted of artists and architects. In a narrower sense, the term De Stijl is used to refer to a body  of work from 1917 to 1931 founded in the Netherlands. Proponents of De Stijl advocated pure abstraction and universality by a reduction to the essentials of form and colour; they simplified visual compositions to vertical and horizontal, using only black, white and primary colors.

Scheinkerman's art was recognized by private collectors as having revolutionized Neoplasticism.

This artist reportedly revitalized the essence of the style by adding new and vibrant palettes, textures and dimensions.

EXPERIMENTAL

In the gallery, you will discover a wealth of artworks that do not follow the De Stijl conventions.

This is exploration and progress. Impressionism, Pop Art, Vidimus, Expressionism and more yet to come...

While the Art Studio's Gallery focuses on De Stijl, the site will continue to include many pieces in which the artist finds alternate forms of expression.

PERFECTION, A UNIQUE FORM OF ART, & THE ARTIST
ArtByTheLoft © is proud to be the only Canadian Neoplasticism-dedicated Art Studio, and is one of very few in North America. The studio contains the artwork of Luis Scheinkerman,  the Neoplasticist Artist Director of the studio.

All his paintings, which are generally presented in large format, are unapologetically bold and vibrant, intensively colored, and represent moments, places, values and aesthetics intrinsic to the creative soul of the artist.

From his early years, Luis studied the arts, including ceramics, wood sculpture, cubist painting, graphic design, and in some way all these elements gradually came together to position his art within the neoplasticist school where he found the perfect balance of color, space and historical background.

A genuine journey with unusual creative catalysts, which aimed him to achieve artistic perfection, as his pillars of inspiration were Mondrian's work and Luis' own perception of the world. Scheinkerman is an artist who managed to bring back the De Stijl school a little more than 100 years later to project its beauty in the XXI century. Like Mondrian, Luis was greatly influenced by Abstract Expressionism and the Minimalism school, concepts from which he learned to form his own style of art.

His works are produced mainly within the parameters of De Stijl and the neoplasticism which Mondrian popularized in the first third of the 20th century. These works, like the paintings of the master Mondrian, have a permanent pursuit of perfection where the abstraction of forms, the systematic reduction of ideas to lines and color, and rectilinear forms are conjugated in a harmonious movement that gives rise to impressive productions of unequivocal narrative and of deep visual reach. Each piece intends to manifest the permanent, balanced expression of the Laws of Proportion.

From his Art Studio, Luis Scheinkerman makes a blazing innovation in the Neoplasticist style. His distinctive flair, found in all of his works, is a similar spirit of perfectionism that mobilized Mondrian in his international journey. Each one of his productions has a core of pure visual impact to satisfy the most sophisticated expectations in houses, buildings, hotels or corporate offices, or private collections.

When visiting the Studio's Shop, you will find reproductions and objects with iconic likenesses of each of the paintings.

Enjoy your visit.
